Being a dad

From the left, my step-granddaughter, Skylar, my step-daughter, Amber, (top) my wife, Mary Lou, myself, my oldest son, Aaron, (bottom left) my youngest son, Benjamin, my mom, Carol and my middle son, Zachary.
Wow, what an amazing 17 years so far. I have one 15 year old, one, almost 13 year old and an 8 year old. All boys!

I know, how lucky I am, right? Well, let me tell you, it hasn't always been great, or peaceful.
Nope! It is messy, hard, tiring and an adventure. Yes, it is an adventure.

Now, the picture above is my family. (From about 2 years ago?)

Now, let me clarify something. My wife and I have been married for 17 years. For the sake of my life, I will not tell you how old she is, or how old Amber is, as, I have learned that woman don't think it is a good topic for their husbands to discuss. Suffice it to say, my wife is younger than I am and Amber was almost 10 years old when we got married.

Yes, you see right, the majority of the family has red hair. Talk about fun!

As of this post, Aaron is a few months from getting his driving permit. He is pretty excited, but, I think he will do OK.

Being a dad hasn't been easy, on the contrary, I have made major mistakes (See the about me page for my testimony), hurt my family pretty good in the process of learning and have had to learn how to correct myself, more than my kids. (That was just the first few years!) So, yeah, this journey has had some ups and some downs and I am sure you could get some really good stories if you asked my family, but, I am not telling those, yet.
God has brought me through a lot to get where I am now. (Which is not perfect) He has allowed me to make mistakes, but, with His help, I have learned quite a lot from most of them.

My hope is that this blog will help to showcase what it means to be a man in this day and age. Not just a husband, or a father, but a man in every aspect. I hope to share a lot of lessons I have already learned and to share new lessons, as I learn them, so that you may be able to be blessed from my mistakes.

So, sit back, grab some coffee and read. Check out the resources and such. Keep coming back, email me questions, learn with me and let's see where God will take us together.
