Hello,
My name is Dennis Fletcher, I am a Christian, a husband, a father and a son. These are the things that identify me, and the order they identify me. Everything starts with Christ.
March 15, 1997, I gave my heart to Christ, at a Ray Boltz concert. I heard the song, "What if I give all" and I cried out, "ok, God, so, what if I give all? Are you going to accept ALL of me? Just as I am, with my addictions and my issues?" He gently whispered into my mind, "Try me."
On that night, I took Him up on it and gave Him everything. He immediately took away my Alcohol and drug addiction and began working on my heart. I finally saw people they way He saw them, to a human degree. He started helping my change the way I spoke in general, how I spoke to others and how I spoke about others. He helped me find peace, like I had never found it before and He helped me quit smoking, about a month later. All in all, it was a complete transformation, that I would never have been able to do on my own.
I married a wonderful Christian woman on May 13, 2000. I got a beautiful step-daughter in the deal. We had our first son, Aaron, in 2002, our second son, Zachary, in 2004 and our third son, a complete surprise, in 2009. Each birth has its own miracle attached, as none of them were just typical births and we have seen God move mightily in our family and in our children.
I have battled addiction, even after becoming a Christian, because, though God took away the alcohol and drug addictions, learning how to cope and how to live without an addiction was something He wanted me to work on and learn. Which, having to go through the process of healing, growing and turning things over to Christ, I have had to learn what it means to be a Christian man, a husband, a father and a son.
I hope, that through this blog, others can get an idea of who they are and what it means to live a life that has been given to Christ.
My focus is on being a christian husband, father and man, so, this will mostly be geared towards men. I have searched scripture through my life after salvation, looking to find what it means to be a man of God, a husband and a father. God has shown me a lot, but, I also know there is so much more to learn. I hope this blog can help you and your loved ones to grow in Him.
